my Story
Welcome to the Farqui8.com website, here’s a brief recap of my digital journey..
I’m a IT engineer by trade and have always enjoyed casual photography which all changed when COVID struck! I then stumbled upon Instagram’s thriving Every Day Carry (EDC) gear community and was inspired to follow along.
I quickly realised they are many inspirational EDC’rs with amazing collections, massively talented makers from hobbyists to corporations who feed our addiction 😝 and creative content makers who inspire and lead us on our own journey’s. The EDC community is strong and we all share a common passion.. gear.
Initially I had a slim gear rotation and GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) kicked in! 😅 I steadily acquired more gear, online friendships started to grow and my inspiration for photography increased.
With my old/broken SLR gathering dust, my initial creative tools of choice were a OnePlus 6 smartphone 📱 followed more recently by the OnePlus 11. In December’23 I acquired a Fujifilm X-T5 APS-C camera 📸 I have been on a new learning curve all over again.. it’s great!
My digital content is primarily on Instagram and features EDC gear, product shots, flowers (thanks to MrsF’s green fingers), our doggo Lexi 🐾 nature and photography.

Lexi 🐾 joined our family making a big impact (in a good way!) and features regularly in my Posts. She has quite the fan base who regularly look out for her! She's a female black Labrador 🐾 who’s obsessed with water 💦 balls, sticks and is great fun.
Why Farqui8?
Years back my colleagues wanted to know my middle name and I wasn’t letting on.. they just knew the initial. At the time the movie, Shrek was at the cinema and somehow the character Farquaad morphed into Farqui and my nickname was born 😅 Farqui8 was the next available account on Instagram when I registered! I have considered changing the name on social sites, etc but it’s been so long that everyone is familiar with it now.
